The Asian Electoral Stakeholder Forum (AESF) is a platform that brings together election management bodies, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders from across Asia to engage and collaborate. Since its inception in 2012 with the first AESF held in Bangkok, Thailand, the forum has been held five times, including in Dili, Timor-Leste (2015), Bali, Indonesia (2016), Colombo, Sri Lanka (2018), and online due to the COVID-19 pandemic (2021). The second AESF in Dili, Timor-Leste was held with the support of the National Commission of Elections and drew the attention of EMBs from across Asia, as well as representatives from Portuguese-speaking countries, leading to a rich exchange of ideas and discussions. The third AESF, co-hosted by the Elections Commission of Indonesia, saw the participation of nearly 250 delegates from around the world.
